Welcome to Shiloh Tailoring Unit

How we started

Fr. Biju Mathew and two local volunteers, Leoni and Juliette assisted in setting up Shiloh Tailoring Unit and it was inaugurated on September 8, 2018. Leoni assisted with purchase of sewing machines, threads and other tools. Both Leoni and Juliette trained the young adults to stitch canvas bags and pouches with applique work and hand embroidery. We initially started the tailoring unit with four sewing machines, an electric machine and three manual sewing machines. Since then, we have added on five more sewing machines in the last few months. Six young ladies work in the unit and have made hundreds of designer bags, pouches and cushion covers in the last year.

Location

Shiloh Tailoring Unit is currently operated out of one of the rooms in Snehadaan Main Building. Sneha Charitable Trust has agreed to provide this facility free of charge to operate this tailoring unit.

Products

Initially, the tailoring unit plans to make simple products like shopping bags, scarves, stoles, napkins etc. Eventually as the young adults are trained, they will venture into more complex products like shirts, pants, dresses etc.
